Okay here goes:
Side-Quest #1: Crestfallen Cucklord
1. Talk to Crestfallen (Guy at Firelink always sitting and laughing) after you've awoken the Snake God known as Frampt. Talk to him repeatedly and go to some other area. Return to Firelink later and you'll find him gone.
2. Go to the New Londo Ruins, towards the path where the ghosts are. You'll find him hollowed and he'll attack you because he's a faggot. Kill and him and reap the reward.
Reward: 1000 Souls.
Side-Quest #2: Laurentius the Bro
1. Go to the Depths and go to the lower floor, where a Butcher is standing on a support beam ready to ambush you (Not the one in the kitchen). Kill her and go in the room she was guarding, inside there'll be Laurentius trapped inside a barrel. Make sure to roll through the barrels in order to avoid harming him. Talk to him a couple of times and he'll go back to Firelink on his own.
2. At Firelink he'll teach you spells after some dialogue, he'll also be a bro.
3. If you have a Pyromancy Flame +10-15/Ascended Pyromancy Flame/Great Chaos Fireball he'll ask you where you got that spell or item. Answering YES! will make him disappear from Firelink, answering NO! will make him stay in Firelink.
4. Go to the Blighttown Swamp and you'll find his hollowed self. Kill him and loot his corpse.
Reward: A pyromancy trainer (If you didn't kill him). 1000 Souls and Tattered Set (If you killed him).
Side-Quest #3: Quelana of Izalith
1. Go to the Blighttown Swamp with a Pyromancy Flame of +10 or higher.
2. You'll find Quelana sitting next to one of the rock mountains before Queelag's lair.
3. Talk to her a few times and she'll teach you pyromancies.
4. Talk to her after you get the Lordvessel and she'll request you to kill her mother.
5. Kill the Bed of Chaos.
6. Talk to her and she'll give you the pyromancy: Fire Tempest.
Reward: Fire Tempest.
Side-Quest #4: The Fair Lady
1. After killing Queelag, go down to the huge room filled with spider webs and eggs.
2. There should be a huge wall covered with spider eggs and webs. Attack it.
3. It will reveal a secret passage.
4. Talk to an egg monster, Eingyi, blocking your path. Tell him that you are a servant of the Fair Lady.
5. Enter the room and find out who the Fair Lady is.
6. She's a Firekeeper so killing her gives you a Firekeeper Soul. This however causes the wrath of Eingyi whom will attack you. Killing her also disables her bonfire.
7. Talking to her gives no response, but allows you to join her Covenant: Chaos Servants. Joining this Covenant gives you the pyromancy: Great Chaos Fireball.
8. This Covenant is shit and has no purpose. But it makes Eingyi trust you enough to teach you one pyromancy: Poison Mist.
9. If you want an even stronger pyromancy, go attack one of the egg monsters in the Demon Ruins and get hit by their grab attack. This will infect you with a parasite.
10. After about two minutes your headgear will be removed and your head will become an egg parasite. In this form, you can't wear any headgear and your kick is replaced by a parasite bite attack that has a slightly longer range, however you also gain a significant weakness to Fire. In poor words: This is a severe downgrade.
11. Talk to Eingyi in this form and he'll be surprised by your devotion. After that he'll give you an item to cure your illness and teach you the pyromancy: Toxic Mist.
12. You donate Humanity to the Fair Lady in order to advance the Covenant. Donating enough times allows you to unlock a shortcut to Lost Izalith without needing to kill the Ceaseless Discharge, the Firesage Demon and the Centipede Demon. Donating about 30 Humanity also gives you the pyromancy: Chaos Storm.
13. At the start of the game you can choose the Old Witch Ring as a gift, talking to the Fair Lady will allow you to understand her language and she'll think that you are her sister since she's blind.
Rewards: Firekeeper Soul (If you kill the Fair Lady.) Various pyromancies by Eingyi and the Fair Lady. Shortcut to Lost Izalith.
Side-Quest #5: Siegmeyer of Catarina
1. You meet Siegmeyer at Sen's closed gate. Talk to him a few times or you'll ruin the side-quest.
2. After opening Sen's gate you can find him next to the first rolling boulder of death area. Go down the slope instead of going up and you should see a small corner.
3. Roll in said corner and you'll get ambushed by Snake men. Kill them and you'll find Siegmeyer just ahead. Talk to him a few times and continue through Sen's Fortress.
4. Once you reach the machinery controlling the boulders's trajectory, rotate it in any direction and Siegmeyer will be free to leave, but only after you kill the Iron Giant.
5. In Anor Londo, just after the giant staircase you should reach an open rooftop with three Silver Knights. Two of them which are protecting two buildings.
6. Kill the one without a bow and go down the stairs inside that building, you'll find Siegmeyer behind a closed door. Talk to him a few times.
7. Open the door and you'll find several Silver Knights. Slaughter them all and talk to Siegmeyer to make him go back to Firelink.
8. In Firelink he'll ask you if you were the one to open Sen's gate. Answer YES! and he'll give you a miracle: Emit Force. Answer NO! and he'll laugh.
9. Talk to him a few times until you hear him mention his daughter.
10. Go to the forest before the Crystal Caves. You'll find a Golden Crystal Golem. Kill it to save his daughter, Sieglinde. Talk to her a few times and tell her that you saw her father.
11. Go to the Blighttown Swamp. You'll find Siegmeyer inside the swamp. He'll ask you if you could spare any purple moss. Give him three of those and he'll reward you with his shield: The Pierce Shield.
12. Go to Lost Izalith, in the area where the floor collapses you'll find him standing next to the huge hole where a bunch of demons are. Talk to him a few times and he'll decide to sacrifice himself for you.
13. How this encounter goes changes the conclusion of the side-quest: If he dies and you can loot his corpse for a Speckled Stoneplate Ring. If he survives with less than 50% HP he'll kill himself and you'll still get the ring. If he survives with more than 50% HP he'll say that he's tired and leave.
14. Go to Ash Lake for the final event where you'll find father and daughter reunited. Sieglinde will give you a Titanite Slab as a reward.
Rewards: Speckled Stoneplate Ring (If Siegmeyer dies or you kill him.) Pierce Shield, Emit Force and Titanite Slab if you do the side-quest flawlessly.
Side-Quest #6: The Great Hollow and Ash Lake
1. Go to the Blighttown Swamp and head towards a giant tree branch, where all the slugs are. Climb the branch and you'll find a chest with a Plank Shield.
2. Hit the wall behind the chest for another item. Hit the wall after that to reach a secret area. Welcome to the Great Hollow.
3. It's recommended you prepare yourself with Anti-Curse gear since this area is populated with Basilisks (The frogs in the Depths) which will Curse you faster than those found in the Depths. Also BEWARE THE MUSHROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMS
4. Be sure to be as light as possible since you are forced to fall repeatedly in this area. This could kill you if you are wearing heavy armor like Havel's Set.
5. After going through that hellhole you'll be rewarded with the best area in the game: Ash Lake.
6. Oh and there's a hydra. Better not fight it until you have end game gear.
7. You can run past it, but in the area past that you'll find the last Ancient Dragon alive.
8. You can join its Covenant: Path of the Dragon. This Covenant allows you to transform your head into a dragon and breathe fire.
9. Offering Dragon Scales to the Dragon improves your fire breath damage, until he gives you the ability to transform your entire body into a dragon.
10. This transformation has drawbacks. You can't reverse transformation unless you die and you can't equip any armor as a dragon. You can't spam fire breath since it consumes stamina. However, a big bonus is that using the Dragon Torso Stone item gives you a 6 second buff where all of your attack damage is nearly doubled! This is excellent for glass cannon builds.
11. You can cut the Ancient Dragon's tail for the Dragon Greatsword. He doesn't mind though, he's a pretty cool guy.
12. Before the Ancient Dragon there's a huge archtree. Climb up the tree to retrieve Havel's final ripple: Great Magic Barrier.
13. This is also the area you have to reach in order to finish Siegmeyer's quest.
Rewards: Path of the Dragon Covenant and rewards, Great Magic Barrier, Dragon Greatsword.
Well I gotta do some shit now, but this will keep you busy for a while I think.

OKAY!!!!
So I rented Dark Souls off of Gamefly because I'm not going to buy something that I don't know if I will like it or not. That's why I never play Diablo 3. Anyway, I made a character, named Heisenberg, made him a thief, then I got to Undead Burg and I realized that was probably not the right class to choose because I can't fucking get past there. I got out like twice and both times the Taurus Demon fucking slaughtered me.
So I decide to like, grind at Undead Burg or something until I'm a high enough level to fuck up the Taurus Demon. It worked for a while but then it stopped working and now I want to restart my playthrough because I just kind of want to do that.
>inb4 i'm a scrub and should stop being such a jew

Choose knight you nigger for obvious reasons.
You can easily beat the game with shit equipment and at level 1 since it's all about recognizing a pattern.
Don't waste your souls in leveling up until you get to the blacksmith (Area past Taurus Demon. You'll know when). It's usually better to upgrade weapons before your stats, since stats give only a minimal bonus to what you really want. Just upgrade stats if you feel like you need extra health or stamina (Vitality or Endurance) and upgrade your Strength and Dexterity if you can't wield certain weapons. Like Guts's sword.

1. Restart the game. You aren't going to have fun playing as a thief if you're inexperienced, the knife is terrible unless you're good at getting backstabs. If you're interested in strength weapons like a big sword then play a knight. If you're interested in magic like fireballs, play as a pyromancer. If you're dead set on a dexterity build for your katana folded over 2000 times, play as a wanderer (like the theif but slightly easier to play). The class you choose at the beginning has almost no bearing on your build later in the game, it only affects how you want to play at the beginning of the game.
2. Like Resis said, don't worry too much about stats at that point in the game. If you feel like you're dying from too little hits or you run out of stamina too quick, put a point or two in health or stamina. But until you get to the blacksmith in the undead parish, I think it's better to upgrade your weapon so you'll have an easier fight with the churchtop assholes. Just make sure you have proper stats for your weapon by this point.
3. Gear up. I wouldn't worry about armor this early in the game, but you can get some good weapons and shields right off the bat. I'm not sure how much you explored the firelink shrine area, but if you go the opposite direction from undead burg, you'll find yourself in a graveyard. There is a lot of loot here that may or may not be helpful. However, there is one sword that could really help you out. run through the graveyard while ignoring the skeletons, because they're overleveled monsters for you rn. at the biggest tombstone in the middle, there is a treasure: the Zweihander, or the Guts Sword. Try to run all the way back to the first bonfire without getting yourself killed, but even if you die, you keep your inventory so it's good. The Zweihander is pure power, pretty slow but has ridiculous damage and staggers nearly every human sized enemy by just bopping them. The one handed moveset isn't amazing so you should go for two handing it as often as possible. you can also wield it with only 16 strength as opposed to the regular 24 strength by two handing it, so do that.
you need 24 strength and 10 dexterity for this weapon, 16 strength if two handing.
The next weapon is much less dangerous to get. Right next to the first bonfire in firelink shrine is a staircase down. Follow it down as far as it goes, and you'll find yourself at an elevator. follow it down to the land of suffering. None of the guys here will attack you so don't worry. Walk down to the left, and there will be a ruined arch. look to your right and you'll find a corpse with the estoc on it. The estoc is a very useful weapon, it has good range and pokes, so if you're a cautious player it will help you out a lot. And please don't walk out to the wood plank when exploring this area. ghosts are not fun.
you need 10 strength and 12 dexterity for this weapon.
Finally, try and find the undead salesman in the undead burg. If you didn't already find him, he's right before the undead burg bonfire. Roll through some boxes and you'll find him. His wares aren't amazing, but they may be useful to you. However, if you don't have the heater shield, you 100% need to buy it. It has 100% physical protection, so you won't take any damage by shielding normal attacks. After getting that item, buy his key and any other items you think you may need. So, you've got all the stuff you want from him. Now you want to kill him. Be wary that attacking him means you won't be able to buy his wares ever again. But once you kill him, he drops a top tier dexterity weapon, the uchigatana. Nippon steel folded 2,000 times. It's ridiculously fast, has decent range, and makes people start to bleed if you hit em enough. Some people (cough cough resis) demean those who use dexterity weapons, but just use whatever you like.
you need 14 strength and 14 dexterity for this weapon.
4. I don't know if you realize what a plunging attack is, but it's when you jump off a high place and hit the attack button. It was shown off in the tutorial boss, but perhaps you missed the tip. It deals ridiculous damage. If you want to make the taurus demon uber easy, before you start the fight, kill the assholes at the top of the tower on the bridge by going up the ladder. Then, run about 3/4 of the way across the bridge and the taurus demon will jump onto the bridge. Run the fuck away back to the tower and go up the ladder again. Once you're on top of the tower, the taurus demon will sit around like the lazy dude that he is, so just roll off of the tower and press the attack button. This will deal maybe 1/3 of his health right off the bat, so it will make the rest of the fight easier.
Other than that, make sure you raise your shield or roll in the right direction away from his attacks, which you just need to get a feel for. Like with most bosses and enemies in the game, be cautious until he uses an attack, then wail on him when he opens himself up.
