SYNOPSIS
After narrowly escaping with his life after an assassination attempt, a young man by the name of Isaac Benthley enters into police custody. Vehemently denying the charge of murder brought to him, you are tasked to deliver the young man alive to the city courtroom in two weeks time. Apparently recorded on video killing a member of a very protective gang of Stand users, it was clear that Isaac called brought upon himself the wrath of an organization. Hellbent on revenge, they then issued a bounty of $100,000 to whomever kills Isaac Benthley. With this, numerous actors and factions from the shadows close in to attempt their hand at the young man's life. Protect him at all costs and let blind justice decide if he truly is guilty or not.
BACKGROUND
At the turn of the 21st Century, many scientists theorized that the evolution of human beings was at hand. They then came to realize that the evolution that some heralded was not something that changed humans fundamentally, but rather the strength of their spirit. There were many names for these extensions of one's spirit. Some call them Ghosts, others call them Personas. But to others, they were known as one thing: Stand. As a figure that stands by your side, it is a reflection of one's true self, the ability therein manifested in those who were strong of will and spirit. Others claim it is obtained by birth, others through trauma, but whatever the case is, there is no running consensus.
But enough about stands. Our story takes place in the relatively peaceful metropolis of Terrabelle. A quiet little city with a population of 200,000 people, most of the population is employed in it's steel mills and mining industry. As more and more people are born with the ability some call 'Stands', the threat of an all-out war that threaten to engulf Terrabelle as many enter into various factions. From the criminal to civil, many Stand users align themselves with the interests of their own faction. With this backdrop, the government keeps a
It is in this powderkeg of a city that a single spark threatens to light a vast conflagration.
An unspoken rule amongst Stand users in Terrabelle was never to pick a fight with another group without any prior consent. That way, misunderstandings could be easily fixed by mediation. However, all that changed when a member of a group known as Ferocitas was slain on one Saturday night. The young man by the name of Andrew was out filming the city view for a documentary contest when he was shot five times by a stranger he met by total coincidence. In the last seconds of the running film the murderer issued a mocking challenge to the rest of his group members:
'Catch me if you can!'
Without hesitation Ferocitas made their move, dispatching their resources in an attempt to find out the killer. Before they were able to make a discovery, one of their own members, a seasoned stand user named Terrence, went missing. Three days later, just as the group found the man's notes, a 'package' was sent straight to the group when an unknown assailant smashed a window and threw the object inside. There contained the severed head of Terrence, decomposing and showing signs of mutilation and torture. The rest of his body was never found. Grieving for their loss, Ferocitas found the lead they have long sought: the identity of the killer on the video was a young man by the name of Isaac Benthley, a 23 year old College student.
Hellbent on achieving revenge, they sent a capable member to assassinate Isaac at the train terminal. Barely escaping with his life, Isaac, unaware of just why someone would want him dead fled into Police protection, all the while denying that he had a hand in the murder of the two gang members. Ferocitas then issued a $100k bounty for his life, prompting many group members and individuals to try and end his life. While the city had done well to suppress the news of the bounty, many of the more powerful factions of Terrabelle now make their move.
Weeks would remain before his trial was to take place. Unable to keep him in ordinary protection, a few stand unaligned stand users must protect Isaac until the date of his trial, despite the fact one of the more powerful factions of Terrabelle close in to kill him.
NOTES
- This story is PURELY a spinoff. This has no bearing on any established canon nor will it affect the development of a character anywhere else BUT this thread. Consider it very seperate from the in-forum canon. No improvements here should reflect on any other ongoing universe.
- For this reason above it may be good to come up with a different stand and a user. Given the format of this game, it may be good to come up with a stand power that is VERSATILE yet not too overpowered. Build a stand with consideration that you may be outmatched strength wise, but please use your wits to defeat the foe rather than a deus ex machina power up.
- Given how compact this story is, I may have to restrict player numbers by about 2. This is so that the story remains on task and such. I may also be VERY picky with stands, so as to maintain a certain and consistent power level. Please do not be offended if you are not chosen. Sorry in advance.
- This world will be driven by the players also! There is a hidden rule I have with my campaigns: anything that is unsaid is mostly okay to add, so long as it makes sense. The city of Terrabelle is a bit of a big place, but that doesn't mean only I can create things. Feel free to influence NPCs and imagine the world for me! Perhaps you wanted to help develop the town and introduce the Red light district. It's fine by me, so long as it makes sense.
- Feel free to make NPCs that connect to your character! This is not just a playmat for stand battles, this is a living, breathing city! Keep in mind I may have to limit the number of player-owned NPCs and I may not include player-made NPCs with stands. This could change, however.
- Most of all, have fun! There's still fun to be had even if you lose a fight. Not everything is something you can win and you will (mostly) have second chances if you live another day. Feel free to escape orthink of unorthodox methods to flee. I will RP with the tendency for the players to always win, but I will strive to make this as interesting as possible!
