Welcome to your new summer job at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, where kids and parents alike come for entertainment and food as far as the eye can see! The main attraction is Freddy Fazbear, of course; and his two friends. They are animatronic robots, programmed to please the crowds! The robots' behavior has become somewhat unpredictable at night however, and it was much cheaper to hire you as a security guard than to find a repairman.
Yeah, this is the basic plot of Youtube Clickbait: The Game. I know what you're thinking, "y u do dis resis this game is shit!!!" or "goddamnit resis u fuckign nerd". Well, it's fine if you think that because I'll admit it: This game is really overrated. But then again the audience that says that this game is great are a bunch of kids that just follow the "next big fad" blindly without thinking about the content about the game in general. We had Happy Wheels, Slender and stuff done by people like PewDiePie and Markiplier, so it's not surprising that whatever they record next will become a next hit. Happy Wheels looked decent but had a cancerous fanbase. Slender is pure and utter shit. Five Nights at Freddy's is however quite different, and it's not just because I'm filled with adrenaline after finishing Night 4 like a boss.
Alright so let's start with the setting, the characters and the plot. Ever since I saw the trailer of this game I thought it would be fucking shit thanks to the "fans" praising it and the fact that the animatronics weren't scary at all. I however admired the concept and the idea, and thought that I should talk shit about it only when I tried it at least so I gave it a go. Basically the protagonist is a guy who finds an ad on a local newspaper. This ad says that the latest security guard at a pizzeria called the Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria got fired or something and that they're accepting new job applications for the night shift. Naturally your protagonist accepts because he's probably a lazy slob that needs a job for college or something, but we don't get any backstory on him and his motives for getting the job. I think that he's just some guy desperate for a job without any actual working, since if a job like this existed in real-life you'd just lay on a comfy chair and sleep away because no-one robs pizzerias anyways.
Okay so the protagonist is this nameless security guard. His shift is from 12 PM to 6 AM. On his first day on the job, he finds an answering machine nearby and finds out that the previous guard left some recorded messages for him, in order to help him with the job. On the first night, you hear this message:
Night 1 recording
Alright, so the main things we learned from this recording is that the owners of the Pizzeria are probably some assholish scumbags since if you get killed by an animatronic, they hide your death and file out a Missing Person report, denying the animatronic's involvement in your death. Another peculiar thing is the Bite of 87'. From the name, you'll understand that someone got bitten in 1987. You're probably thinking that it's some Mike Tyson bullshit, but it's not, since the guard states that it's "amazing how a human being can survive without the frontal lobe."
It's gotta be shocking living without that, huh? Anyways I doubt that a human or an animal could pierce an entire skull and devour that part of the brain, so it's obvious that an animatronic bit someone's head. The previous guard also mentions that the animatronics once had a "Free roaming" mode that was caused by their servos locking up or something if they are turned off too long. He explicitly mentions that they used to walk around during the day as well, before the bite happened. So an animatronic probably bit a kid or something and because of that they can only roam at night now.
He then says that the only risk involved in the job is that the animatronics are unable to tell the difference between an adult human and a metal endoskeleton that is inside each of their bodies. Since that's against the rules in the Pizzeria (Cause kids will get spooked out if they find out that their favorite characters are metal skeletons) the animatronics will attempt to stuff the protagonist in a suit if they catch him. Normally this wouldn't be harmful, but since the suits are filled with crossbeams, wires and various devices, a human being will basically die if they are stuffed in a suit like that. The only defense system you have against these animatronics are: Poorly lit cameras that sometimes malfunction because they're quite old. Clunky doors that, while sturdy, consume a lot of energy while in use and their control panel is extremely fragile. You also have some hall lights that allow you to check any blind spots where the animatronics are hiding and they're probably the most useful since they consume little energy for a great effect, although their use makes the area feel spookier.
Even with all of these shitty tools, you are even more fucked since there is apparently a budget for how much energy the night shift security guard can use as well. You probably have less energy than a Nintendo 3DS and if you run out of energy, the doors will automatically open in order to protect people trapped within in case of a fire or a blackout (Like how modern doors function nowadays). In your case however you get killed by Freddy Fuckboy. Now you're probably thinking: "Why doesn't this guy quit if it's so dangerous? Just get out before the robots get you." It's not so simple though, because once he's inside at 12 PM he can't get out until 6 AM, because the animatronics go into "Kid friendly" mode when your shift ends, and the entrance is next to Animatronic show stage, meaning that if you make a run for it they can basically just wait there and fuck you up. So no matter what the protagonist does, he's forced to survive through Night 1.
What's perplexing however, is the fact that the protagonist returns in Night 2. Normally everyone would have quit the fucking job after Night 1, but for some reason the protagonist didn't. Now this may be a case of Gameplay/Story segregation since without more nights there's basically no game. It's called Five Nights at Freddy's after all. Maybe the protagonist enjoys the thrill, or he wants to understand more about the shady pizzeria, or maybe since 9 minutes IRL is 6 hours in this game, avoiding the animatronics is extremely easy in his eyes (not to ours) and he beats all nights flawlessly. We're not supposed to focus on that though, we're supposed to focus on the previous security guard, the pizzeria and the animatronics in general.
There are three animatronics: Bonnie, Chica and Freddy.
Bonnie is a rabbit animatronic and the guitarist of the animatronic band. He's also the first animatronic that attempts to attack you and always attacks you from the left side of the office. In order to counter him you'll either have to close the left door so he can't enter, or use the left hall light in order to scare him away. Bonnie is more of a "Support" for the other animatronics though, since if he enters your office he'll either smash your left door panel or your left hall lights, preventing you from using them for the rest of the night. He also can't attack you if you're staring at him, but if you stare at the cameras long enough and then stop, he'll attack you with a jumpscare if he's already inside. There's not much to say about Bonnie aside from this, except that while in Night 1-2 he's the most active animatronic, in Night 3-4 he's the least active one, replaced by Chica in terms of danger. In Night 4 he also starts staring at cameras once you look at him and his head starts erratically moving while some loud moans can be heard. During this movement, the camera will suddenly glitch and he'll teleport a random room closer to you, making him harder to predict.
Chica is a chicken animatronic and the backup singer of the band. She is apparently considered female by the staff and attacks you soon after Bonnie in Night 1. She then becomes more active in Night 2 before completely replacing Bonnie in Nights 3 and 4. She seems to have some strange connection with food (Also thanks to her bib, which reads "Let's Eat!!!"). In fact, she's the only animatronic which goes to the kitchen and no-one knows what she does there, since the kitchen is the only area that has a permanently damaged camera that gives only a weak audio feed, allowing the player to know if Chica is inside the kitchen or not by listening to the various noises of pots and pans falling down. If there is no noise then Chica isn't there. Chica also acts similar to Bonnie in the "Support" role, except that she always attacks from the right instead of from the left. And since the player can't close both doors at the same time for long due to the little energy that he has, he must alternate between checking left and right doors. Chica also has the the same ability that Bonnie that also starts during Night 4, where she teleports across rooms.
Freddy "Fuckboy" Fazbear is a bear animatronic and the main attraction of the pizzeria. Because of that he's also the lead singer and vocalist of the band. Freddy is quite peculiar because he isn't active at all during Nights 1 and 2, simply staying in position at the Show Stage. However in Night 3 he becomes active and demonstrates a superior intelligence to Bonnie and Chica. Unlike them he constantly hides from the cameras's field of view, but is betrayed by his glowing eyes. He also appears to study the players's moves, only proceeding forward when the player has neglected the right door. His weaknesses however is that he can only attack the player from the right, like Chica. However unlike Chica and Bonnie, he doesn't need to attack the player after the lower their camera monitor and can attack them as soon as he enters the office, making him a dangerous foe. He's also some kind of "time bomb", since he stops moving for a few seconds once the player looks at him with the cameras. If the player keeps looking at him with the cameras, he won't be able to proceed forward. But if he does proceed forward, he'll never return back a room to give the player a chance, unlike Bonnie and Chica. So the player must keep an eye on him and the other animatronics at once, otherwise he'll easily kill the player due to their negligence.
There's also a fourth, hidden animatronic that has no role in the band and wasn't shown at all in the trailers. This animatronic is known as Foxy and is quite possibly the most dangerous animatronic in the game since he can kill the player in less than five seconds. Because of this, we're given more time to learn about Foxy, starting on Night 2 with the security guard's second message.
Night 2 recording
Like he says, Foxy becomes more active the longer you keep your cameras down. The reason why he exists is because without him, you could just close the right door every night and win the game. What Foxy does is that if you look at the area where he's hidden, the Pirate Cove, he'll stay stationery. The more you neglect him however the angrier he becomes and once a certain period has passed, he'll leave the cove and make a crazy sprint for your office. If you're quick enough you can catch a glimpse of him running and close the left door before he attacks you, but most of the time he'll catch you and you'll be dead. Even if you close the door, Foxy will still drain 1% of your energy in his first attack, and 5% more for every subsequent attacks he makes. What's good however is the fact that once he's done attacking, he resets back to his original phase in Nights 2 and 3, only going into a more offensive phase in Night 4, where he attacks quicker. Now Foxy is quite peculiar not only because of his way of attacking, but also because he isn't mentioned at all. No-one knows about him, not even the kids. Only the protagonist and the previous guard know about his existence, probably because of his aggressive behavior.
He's also the only animatronic that can be seen in Pirate Cove. In fact, it's his home, since he always starts his assault from there. One noticeable thing is the "Sorry! Out of order" sign right next to it. Something probably happened to the Pirate Cove and Foxy since he isn't shown in the Show Stage at all. However I think that this "Out of order" sign is quite old, because no-one except the protagonist and the previous guard know about Foxy. He isn't shown in the trailers. He isn't shown in any posters, photographs or drawings. I don't even think the children known about it. Foxy has been rotting for a long time as well since his model looks quite old and rusty. But what could have happened that caused Foxy to stay forever in a state of disrepair? Hmm something something Bite of 87'...
As you can see from this gif, he has sharp teeth and replicates a biting motion while running. Judging by his state, he must have been in the cove for a long time. What would you do if you were the owner of a famous pizzeria and your animatronic fox suddenly bit off the frontal lobe of someone? You'd erase all evidence and bad publicity. The owners of the pizzeria took Foxy and kept him inside the Pirate Cove in a permanent state of disrepair while disabling his attraction (He's a pirate fox. Yarr.) That's why no-one except the protagonist and the previous guard know about him. He probably hasn't been seen for several years.
I'm ending the post here cause I got shit to do, however let me tell you something before I go: Artificial Intelligence and Science Fiction stuff isn't why the animatronics are behaving like this. It's not "Intelligent A.I." or stuff like that, because if animatronics did this shit in 1987 I'm sure we would have flying cars by now. The reason is much more supernatural and I'll be describing it in detail later. Hope you've enjoyed this big ass post.
also fuck you hello
